Any UMD student can join the SFPE student chapter. Dues are $28 per two semesters or $14 per semester. You may fill out the form online here. You may pay dues using Venmo (username: marylandsfpe) or leaving a check made out to “SFPE UMD Chapter” in the SFPE mailbox inside the FPE Department. Additionally, students must register on Terplink as SFPE members, which can be done here.
By becoming a member, students will be able to engage in social events, meetings with presentations by professionals in the fire protection community (with free food), and networking opportunities.
Membership also grants you access into the SFPE lounge (JMP 3226). The lounge is a place where students can relax in between classes or complete homework together as it offers two leather couches, a flat screen TV, a large whiteboard, and two large study tables.
All students are also encouraged to become National SFPE members. It’s free and can be done by completing the form below and mailing it in. Benefits include: receipt of the SFPE monthly magazine, Fire Protection Engineering magazine, and discounts on many industry publications.
